Singles (40+)

Singles Ministry at Cokesbury encourages singles in their relationship with Jesus Christ through community. Community involves LIFE Groups, Sunday School Classes, retreats, Divorce Recovery and special events. The goal is not to be a social club, but a ministry that meets the unique needs of singles of all ages and stages of life.

Sunday School Classes

  • Single Parents - This is for single parents in their 30's and 40's. They meet at the North Campus in Room 203 at 9:40am. This class is studying the book "Crazy Love" by Francis Chan.
  • Simply Single - This gathering of singles of all ages is currently studying the book of Matthew. They meet in Room 201 at the North Campus at 9:40am and are beginning a study called "The Sacred Romance" by Eldridge & Curtis.
  • Fireside - 55 and older singles and couples. They meet at 8:30am on the South Campus in Room 58.
  • Bible-X-plorers - This class is for singles and couples in their 20's and 30's. They meet at the North Campus in Room 310 at 9:40 am. They explore a variety of topical subjects.
  • Pathfinders/Discovery - 55 and older singles and couples. They meet in Room 53 at the South Campus at 9:40am.
  • Women's Bible Study - This class is for all women. They meet at the North Campus in Room 303 at 9:40 am. They are currently using a Beth Moore study book

LIFE Groups

LIFE Groups help build community and provide opportunities for members to welcome, worship, study the word, and witness. Groups are compromised of 8-12 people. Members share, listen, affirm, inspire, and grow spiritually. They "do life" together. Several singles LIFE Groups meet each week throughout the Knoxville area. These LIFE Groups include: Coed Singles Mid 20s - early 30s, Single Men 30-40, Coed Singles 50+, and Single Parents.

Regular Activities

  • Lunch Bunch - Join the "bunch" every Sunday immediately following the 11:00 am worship services for lunch at a local restaraunt.  Check the bulletin for weekly locations.
  • Fun Monthly Activities - Each month, singles gather for fellowship outings: Smokies baseball games, Shakesphere in the Park, hikes, bicycles rides, game nights, etc.  Family activities are also planned for single parents and their children.

"Singles Serving" Opportunities

The focus for Cokesbury Singles Ministry in 2010 is outreach.  We want to love and care for people like Jesus did.  We invite you to join us.

  • LOVE Patrol - Be part of a team to reach out to the shut-ins of our Cokesbury family.
  • RAM - Volunteer at the "Remote Area Medical" clinic.
  • Manna House - On the fifth weekend of the month, join us to clean and restock Manna House.
  • Habitat - Join the crew to help build houses for Habitat for Humanity.
  • And More To Come!

Specialty Classes

  • Specialty Studies - Several times throughout the year, specialty classes are offered to encourage and assist you in your daily and spiritual life.
  • Divorce Recovery - This workshop is a six-session series designed to help those who have experienced or are experiencing divorce and the ending of a relationship.  The sessions consit of lectures presented by Ron Lauderdale of the Christian Counseling Center followed by a time of sharing in a small group setting.  Childcare is available upon request.  For registration  information,  e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.   • "How to Follow Your Heart without Losing Your Mind" - If you've noticed a pattern in your relationships and you're asking yourself "What am I doing wrong?", then this is a six session workshop that you can't afford to miss.  Your "happily ever after" depends on it.  Coming this Spring.
  • Singles Summer Study - Each summer, singles join together for an indepth study.  The class will meet on Sunday nights 5:30 - 7:30 pm.
