It has been an honor to serve as the Senior Pastor of Cokesbury over the last 12 years.  I was appointed to this position in June of 1996.  I have a deep passion to help churches grow.  Prior to coming to Cokesbury, I served as Senior Pastor at Christ United Methodist Church in Chattanooga for fourteen years.  Since coming to Knoxville, I have stood in awe of God working in this place.  We have grown from an average worship attendance of 700 in 1996 to over 2600 in 2008.  In addition to our growth in worship, I have witnessed amazing growth in the individual lives of our people.

I am a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  I have a Masters degree from Duke Divinity School and a Doctorate from Vanderbilt University.  My passion for growing churches has resluted in extensive work in New Church Development and even inspired me to co-author a book called, "Growing New Churches." I am married to Lynda and we a son that lives in Raleigh, NC.  When I'm not in the office, I can be found playing golf, fishing or enjoying other outdoor activities.
